Introduction to Programming with Python

Tuesday, October 20, 2026, 9:00–11:30 am · East Learning Lab A

From installing Python to writing your own function, on your own laptop in JupyterLab. Google Colab is the backup if an install gets stuck.

What you’ll leave with

Before you come

  1. Bring a Mac or Windows laptop you can install software on, and its charger. uv needs no admin rights.
  2. Do the Setup page ahead of time if you can. It takes about 15 minutes, and a two-minute video shows every step. We’ll also do it together at the start.
  3. Get a Google account, NC State or personal, for the Colab backup.
  4. Already use conda (Anaconda, Miniconda or Miniforge)? The Setup page has conda steps too.
